For Adriaan Feyaerts, achieving creativity means more than just musical excellence. The percussionist, originally from Belgium and now based in Munich, moves effortlessly between an artistic career and the development of entrepreneurial concepts in the cultural sector.
He has performed—and continues to do so—across Europe in numerous orchestras, ensembles, and cultural initiatives. Building on his musical expertise, he founded OpusM projects GmbH in 2024, which he continues to lead as CEO. At the heart of the company lies an online marketplace for classical concerts, curated and developed by Feyaerts, that connects professional musicians and music lovers in innovative ways. The platform reimagines classical concert programming, creates visibility for artistic concepts, and opens accessible pathways for digital presentation. Since 2025, Feyaerts has also served as Chairman of the Board of Holzhauser Musiktage—a distinctive chamber music festival on Lake Starnberg that offers a stage away from the anonymity of large concert halls to both internationally renowned and regional artists alike.
Feyaerts received his classical percussion training in Antwerp, Amsterdam, and Munich—where his affinity for musical diversity and conceptual depth became apparent early on. His artistic path first led him to prestigious youth orchestras, including the renowned Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, of which he was a member for over four years. Engagements with other major European ensembles followed: among them, a permanent position with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and regular appearances with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Munich Chamber Orchestra.
Yet Feyaerts’ creative energy takes many forms. As co-founder of the Belgian chamber music festival MusicKnights, he helped lead the event series in a responsible role over a four-year period. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he also supported CouponConcerts in Munich—a format launched in 2020 to aid freelance musicians during this challenging time. In addition, he contributed creative impulses to the Münchner KonzertKollektiv e.V. and served as co-initiator of the Munich Trumpet Consort.
Another essential facet of Feyaerts’ artistic biography is his work as a music producer and recording artist. Under the name ADRIAAN, he released his debut album Sessions #1 in 2021—a widely noted work born of collaborative studio sessions held as part of “ADRIAAN ontmoet”, a TV production showcasing talented musicians from the Rotterdam scene. Since spring 2024, the Belgian artist has been regularly releasing new music in close collaboration with arranger Roeland Jacobs and sound engineer Udo Pannekeet. Thematically, his recent work reflects Feyaerts’ personal experiences in recent years. These pieces speak of vulnerability and grief, but also of resilience and strength in times of painful loss. In his latest works—written for a new ensemble—
Feyaerts expands the expressive range of the marimba, positioning the versatile instrument not only as a sonic centerpiece but also as a narrative core within a modern, neoclassical context.
Since 2023, Adriaan Feyaerts’ personal creative output has been deeply shaped by the memory of his late wife, Anne. Her legacy continues to resonate as a quiet yet powerful force behind every new idea, project, and composition.
